Bunbury Village Day 2021 – 26 June
Thank you to everyone who came on Saturday, a thoroughly enjoyable event with great weather! Just one of the many messages sent to the organisers: Absolutely fantastic day, well managed, everyone enjoyed themselves but at the same time adhered to the rules, lovely to see the children playing in the sunshine, well done to the organisers, first class job.
Planning and background
After some uncertainty, the Bunbury Village Day team are delighted to announce that the highlight of Bunbury’s social calendar will go ahead this Summer (subject to the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown being implemented as planned).
The theme will be The Olympics, to coincide with the delayed Tokyo Games, which were postponed last year due to the pandemic and we plan to have a medal winning Olympian open the event!
Saturday 26 June 2021 is the date for your diary and of course no Bunbury Village Day would be complete without all the traditional attractions of this great summer event including a bar, a BBQ, parade, Rose Queen and King, stalls, WI café, puppet show, vehicle exhibition, the list goes on!
This year rather than displays, the arena will be given over to a range of team sports, with medals and prizes for the winners. The event will be extended into the early evening with a great set by much loved local band The Easy Peelers.
So, with Village Day fast approaching the draw has concluded for this year’s Rose Queen and the six attendants and we are delighted to announce that the following have been picked this year:
- Rose Queen: Scarlett Ellis
- Attendants: Eva Connelly, Ella Connelly, Anya Yates, Elise Tomlinson, Martha Bennett, Tom Ford

Unfortunately no dogs are allowed on the playing field.
How do I get there?
Village Day is held on the Jubilee playing field. The parade route will start at the School (not the Church this year!)
What time does it start?
The Parade starts at 12.30 and the opening ceremony starts soon after 13.00.
Where does the procession go?
The Procession starts at the School at 12.30 and passes through the Village.
The road will be temporarily blocked while the procession is in progress.
Safety
As always, parents and carers are responsible for their children at all times.
There will be first aid onsite.
How are the proceeds from Village Day Spent?
Although the main focus of Village Day is to provide a great day for everyone, sometimes there is a small profit which is spent on good causes in the Village. Below are a few examples of how the proceeds have been spent
- Maintaining the Village website
- Procuring a new bench for the triangle in front of the co-op
- Helping to fund the public access defibrillator in the Nags Head and funding replacement pads and batteries
- Paying for a coach trip for the Friday at Tillys club
