Bunbury Parish Council is seeking applications for the post of Clerk and RFO.

The post is part-time (12 hours a week worked flexibly) working from the Parish, the Pavilion on the Playing Fields and (mainly) from home. 

Salary is paid in accordance with the National Association of Local Councils and Society of Local Council (NALC/SLCC). It is anticipated the salary range would be Pay Scale LC2 Point 18 to 23, from £13.21 to £14.62 per hour. The successful candidate will be appointed to the appropriate Point, based on experience, qualifications and credentials. 

There is no requirement for the post holder to live within the Parish, but local knowledge would be desirable. 

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the Parish Council conducts its business lawfully.
  • Administering the Council’s financial affairs and maintaining proper records.
  • Attending and servicing all Council and Playing Fields Committee meetings. Council meetings are generally held on the second Wednesday each month and PFC meetings are quarterly. Occasional working group meetings may require attendance.
  • Ensuring that meeting papers are prepared in accordance with Access to Information Regulations. 
  • Administrative work in respect of Parish Council business.
  • Managing communications with other Councils and other organisations.
  • Managing communications between Councillors and members of the public.
  • Distributing to Members, correspondence received, as appropriate.
  • Managing contracts with suppliers. 
  • Liaising with the self-employed Lengthsman and occasional volunteers. 

Applicants should be computer-literate, experienced in the management of accounts and have proven organisational and administrative skills. A laptop computer will be provided. Experience in local government is desirable but not essential, as is suitable relevant qualifications. Further training will be provided where required.
